Old Tom offers to make Paysite Hacking a thing of the past
Old Tom today launched SecureScripts.com Security Services with his industry-wide solution to our Paysite Hacking and Password Trading problems. "A large proportion of the password traders hitting your paysites are underage teens and preteens," he notes. "We know what the hackers know. We know how they do it. We crafted a remarkably simple solution to keep them out entirely. We even have the testimony of the hackers themselves showing they can't get past our solution."
Old Tom, cofounder of OT Scripts Industrial Strength webmaster software, has 25+ years of industry experience. "There is an intense year of nearly full-time research behind our solution," he reports. "Sometimes my hair stood on end. But mostly I was just plain mad. We priced ourselves accordingly. We kept things inexpensive so we ALL can afford to get these people off our sites."
Old Tom's "How to Hack a Paysite" series begins in the August AVN Online Magazine.

Hacker "Ethics"
|
|
The first item
below is an article passed around by "highly ethical" paysite
hackers. We have literally hundreds of hackers' articles and tutorials
collected in The Clean Sweep Zone.
You'll be interested in the hackers' followup comments to this
article as well... but we
need to protect our information sources. You'll need to be inside the
Zone to read the rest.

Upcoming Articles
|
|
Old Tom has the following articles scheduled to appear
in AVN Online.
- Surviving Unix Part One: Permissions Problems, Code Talkers,
September 2003.
Unix has some weird quirks when it comes to file permission and ownership. If
you really understand these quirks, you can save yourself hours upon hours of
frustration and lost revenue.
- Surviving Unix Part Two: "Is You," or
"Not You?", Code Talkers,
October 2003.
Your CGI scripts can be one way, or the other. When you understand the
difference, and why it's important, your script installations will go a whole
lot smoother, and you can take a huge stride in keeping the hackers out.
- Simple Script Debugging, Code Talkers, November 2003.
Funny thing, that... sometimes the simplest, easiest, most basic techniques
are still the best. Perhaps you're trying to install someone else's script,
or write a small one of your own. Perhaps you're customizing something to fit
your exact need. And... sometimes, just sometimes, things don't go quite
right, and you don't know what went wrong.
Chances are you were never a programmer by choice. You just need to get the
job done! Here's an easy technique that will get you through the day. I've
been doing this professionally 25 years, and this remains my primary method.
It's that powerful!
- Server Knows Best, Code Talkers, December 2003.
When your .htaccess file isn't working right, you can use the server itself to
tell you what's going wrong. Here are step by step instructions.
